Stephen Vaughan is in no doubt about
which the direction Chester City are heading in. Despite
being disappointed with Chester’s home form the
City chairman hopes his team can get amongst the big
boys this season. It’s a good start but we
are disappointed that we didn’t get the three points
against Scarborough. The main thing is that we are still
unbeaten and the lads havent conceded but after going
to Barnet and getting three points, I was disappointed
with the Scarborough result.
Vaughen continued: Teams are
all coming to the Deva Stadium and putting five men
at the back and they’re making it hard for the
lads. We were disappointed to only get a point when
really we could have gone top of the Conference last
Monday. Everything looks good at the moment. We’ll
just have to keep going, just have to keep plugging
away and take it week by week.
I think we need another striker,
we need someone who can put some goals in. We’ve
got four of the most established strikers in the conference
league, but Ive spoken to Mark Wright and he thinks
he still needs strength and if that is what it takes
to get us out of this league, that’s what we'll
do.
Changes on the field of play
have been matched with many off it. Not only has
the Deva Stadium office block received a fresh lick
off paint, but a new management structure is also
being put together. As you know, we’ve
done a complete refurbishment of the premises and
we still havent finished with the interior. But
the main thing is we’re clearing the debt and
the club is probably in the best shape its been in
for a number of years. Off the field everything looks
ok, on the field it looks promising. If we can all
pull together, hopefully we’ll be challenging
this year.
