Concluding our look at the whereabouts
of last seasons players:
San Diego born Ian Joy joined
City from Ohio based Columbus Crew in March 2003, and
made his debut in the home game against Farnborough
Town the following month. A left sided midfielder or
defender Ian played three games for Chester but was
released at the end of the season. Ian started his
career as a trainee with Tranmere Rovers but failed
to make the first team and was released at the end
of 1999/2000. He started the 2000/01 season in Scotland
with Stirling Albion but after only two substitute
appearances moved to another Scottish Third Division
side, Montrose. At Montrose he was a regular in the
side prompting a return to English football, with Kidderminster
Harriers, the following season. At Harriers he played
alongside Ben Davies and Ian Foster but struggled to
retain a place in the side and when the chance came
to revitalise his career back in his native USA he
jumped at the opportunity. A former USA youth international
Ian had also had trials with the national squad and
was hoping that a move to a Major League Soccer side
would help his international career. By March Ian was
back in England, at Chester, and at the start of this
season he spent three weeks on trial at Southend United
but was not retained. His next port of call was Yeovil
Town where he played in a trial game for their Pontins
League team against Swansea City earlier this month.
At the moment it remains to be seen whether Yeovil
will offer him a contract.
Centre half John Keegan only
played one game for City, in the Cheshire Senior Cup,
at Cheadle Town. The Liverpool born defender started
his career with York City where he made three appearances
in 1999/2000 before moving to Scarborough the following
season. Over the next two seasons he played seven times
for the Seadogs and joined Chester at the start of
last season after playing as a trialist in pre-season
games at Holywell and Colwyn Bay. A regular in the
Lancashire League side in the first half of last season
he spent some time on loan with Caernarfon Town before
being released during the summer. John started this
season with FA Trophy winners Burscough.
Chris Tamm also
played in the Cheshire Senior Cup tie at Cheadle
and like John Keegan spent some time on loan with
Caernarfon Town. A former junior at the Deva Stadium
Chris signed non-contract terms with Caernarfon Town
during the summer. Other former City youngsters at
Caernarfon Town include Carl Rodgers, Michael
Simpson and Adam Kelly as
well as Paul Roberts who played six Conference games
back in 2001/02.
