WINNING RUN ENDS
Chester’s winning four match run came to an end on Saturday as Eastleigh completed the double over the Blues with a 1-0 win at the Deva. The only goal of the game came midway through the second period as substitute Dan Walker scored with his first touch. Chester had chances themselves with John Rooney, Craig Mahon and the recalled Craig Hobson all seeing efforts saved.

A disappointed Steve Burr said after the match: “We didn’t really do enough to warrant winning. Things didn’t drop for us as they have been in recent weeks, but equally we didn’t deserve to lose either. We’d have been happy with a draw, given the way we played. It was just so disappointing to lose to a goal like that and they’ve got the experienced lads who know how to see a job out.”

Chester are without a game now until the derby match at Wrexham on 7 March, kick-off 13.00hrs. This weekend’s fixture at Torquay United was postponed due to the Devon club’s involvement in the FA Trophy.

MCBURNIE RECALLED
An injury crisis at Valley Parade has meant a recall for on loan striker Oliver McBurnie who has impressed during his short stay at Chester scoring once in 4+0 appearances.

NEW TORQUAY DATE
The away game against Torquay United has been rearranged for Tuesday 10 March, kick-off 19.45hrs.

ABBOTT DEAL EXTENDED
Chester have extended the loan deal for Barnsley 20-year-old midfielder Brad Abbott for another month.

WREXHAM TICKETS
Tickets for the away match at Wrexham on Saturday 7 March (kick-off 13.00hrs) are currently on sale to Season Ticket holders from 10.00-16.00hrs until end of Friday. Please bring voucher D from your Season Ticket book. The remaining tickets going on general sale after Saturday’s home game against Eastleigh. The ticket office will also be open on Sunday (10.00 - 16.00hrs).

All fans attending the game need to travel on official coaches from Deva Stadium, the coach and match tickets are combined and the prices are as follows:

Adult – £26.00
Over 62 and under 21 – £21.00
Over 80 and under 16 – £14.00
Under 11 – £8.00

Match tickets will be provided on the coach on the day of the game, upon arrival at Wrexham. Tickets can also be purchased by calling the club on 01244 371376. Season Ticket holders ordering their tickets by phone will still need to produce voucher D from their season ticket book when collecting their bus voucher/ticket from the office.

NEW DARTFORD DATE
The home game against Dartford has been rearranged for Tuesday 17 March, kick-off 19.45hrs.

BLUES COMPLETE DOUBLE
Chester completed the double over Lincoln City with a 1-0 win at Sincil Bank on Saturday. The only goal of the game came four minutes before half time as Sean McConville, set up by Oliver McBurnie, drove the ball into the top corner from the edge of the penalty area giving Paul Farman in the Imps goal no chance. The victory lifted Chester to tenth position in the Conference Premier, six points away from the play-off's.

Manager Steve Burr, who is now in Cyprus on England C team duties, was full of praise for the way his side coped against a team who had won their seven previous home matches.

He said: “It was a tremendous goal but I thought Oli did some good work leading up to that. It was nice to see us pass our way out of our half and into their box and finish with a goal.”

Burr said: “I thought it was a good performance but I was a bit disappointed we didn’t make use of good possession in the second-half, which probably made it look like they put us under a lot of pressure but I thought we coped with everything really.”

“We dealt with the long ball, we dealt with the long throw and it’s great to get a win at Lincoln because they’ve been winning some games here so it’s been good for us to come here and beat a club like Lincoln. We coped well with their tactics, that’s how they play and I thought we coped with that well. I never felt in any danger and like I say I'm just a bit disappointed we didn't go on and get a few more goals in the second half.”

The three points on Saturday lifted The Blues into 10th position. On Saturday they entertain another of the play-off hopefuls when sixth placed Eastleigh visit Chester. A win for Steve Burr’s men would lift the over the Hampshire side.

TORQUAY MATCH TO BE REARRANGED
Chester’s away match at Torquay United scheduled for Saturday 28 February will have to be rearranged as The Gulls are now in FA Trophy action that day.

For the league game at Sincil Bank on Saturday Chester and Lincoln fans will be able to pay whatever admission price they choose. The minimum price for an Early Bird ticket will be just £1.00 whether for an adult, concession, student or junior. Tickets for this offer must be bought in advance from online at www.redimps.com/tickets or over the phone by calling 01522 880011. The cut-off for ‘Name Your Price’ Early Bird ticket purchases will be close of business on Friday 13 February 2015. Normal match day prices will be in operation on the day of the game.

DERBY MATCH
The away match at Wrexham on Saturday 7 March will be all-ticket and have a 13.00hrs kick-off time. Once again it will be a ‘bubble match’ for which Chester have been allocated 1,200 tickets. Further ticket allocation details are to be announced.

ROONEY DOUBLE SINKS WINGS

Two goals from John Rooney and a first for the club from Oliver McBurnie gave Chester their third victory in seven days to move them within four points of a play-off space, although they have played more games than those around them. Chester started well against Welling United at Park View Road, but found themselves 1-0 down against the run of play on a heavy pitch after 15 minutes as Reece Harris raced through the Blues defence to open the scoring.

Chester drew level in the 37th minute with McBurnie (pictured) heading home from a superb Ryan Higgins right wing cross. The home side were reduced to ten men a minute later as captain Jake Gallagher saw red for a challenge on the goalscorer.

With the game approaching half-time Chester took the lead as Karl Duguid was adjudged to have handled a Craig Mahon cross, Rooney stepped up to to convert the penalty. Two minutes after the break Rooney extended the lead with a great free-kick over the defensive wall into the bottom right hand corner. Both Gareth Roberts and Mahon hit the woodwork as the Blues pushed for a fourth goal.

The victory leaves Chester in 13th spot. With Dartford in FA Trophy action on Saturday the next game is away at Lincoln City on Saturday 14 February.
