AWAY RUN ENDS WITH A POINT
Chester’s run of six successive away matches finished last night with a 1-1 draw at a very cold Rushall Olympic. It was a game of very few chances and two penalties as the Blues took the lead five minutes into the second half with captain George Glendon converting a spot-kick, moments later though Matty Williams was adjudged to have fouled in the box and up stepped Alex Fletcher to bring Rushall level and earn a point for the home side.

EDWARDS GOAL SEALS THREE POINTS
Liam Edwards scored his first goal for the club on Saturday as Chester won 1-0 at third placed South Shields. The win ended the home sides unbeaten home record, in fact they had only conceded once at home all season prior to Edwards’ close range strike six minutes before half time.

TROPHY DEFEAT
The Blues were beaten on penalties in their second round FA Trophy match at Nantwich Town on Saturday. Manager Calum McIntyre had made seven changes to the starting X1 from the team that were beaten at York City in midweek, giving a debut to striker Christian Norton.

A game a few chances saw the Blues reduced to ten men for the final 17 minutes as Adam Thomas had to go off with an arm injury after all three substitutes had been used. The game ended 0-0 after 90 minutes and went straight to penalties. Early misses from the spot by Declan Weeks and Charlie Caton set the Dabbers up for a 4-2 win on spot-kick’s and a home tie against York City in round three.

CUP EXIT FOR BLUES
Chester were beaten 2-1 in last night's FA Cup replay at York City. The Blues got off to a poor start conceding an early goal in the fifth minute as Lenell John-Lewis scored at the near post following a corner. The York captain doubled the lead on 66 minutes as a sliced clearance from Liam Edwards bounced over 'keeper Wyll Stanway allowing John-Lewis the easiest of goals from a couple of yards out.

Backed throughout by an impressive away crowd of 755 Chester responded well and pulled a goal back through George Glendon racing through onto a superb through ball from Harrison Burke. The Blues pressed for an equaliser but found David Stockdale in the Minstermen's’ goal in fine form keeping out efforts from Charlie Caton as the home side held out for a televised second round match against Wigan Athletic.

PEERS SEES RED
Striker Tom Peers was given a straight red card following an incident at the end of Saturday’s 3-2 defeat at bottom of the table Darlington. The Blues, whose coach broke down on the way to the match, found themselves 3-0 down at the break before goals from Peers and George Glendon in the second half set up a tense final 20 minutes, but City were unable to find an equaliser late on.

Both sides defended well in a game with few clear-cut chances though substitute Charlie Caton almost notched a last minute winner just failing to convert a Joel Taylor cross at the far post. The replay will take place on Tuesday 14 November, kick-off 19.45hrs.
