HEAVY DEFEAT AT CURZON ASHTON
The Blues suffered their heaviest defeat since January 2022 when they were beaten 4-0 at the Tameside Stadium on Saturday. It took The Nash, managed by former Blue Craig Mahon, just two minutes to open the scoring through Devon Matthews. A mistake from goalkeeper Elyh Harrison gifted Michael Afuye the second goal on 20 minutes.

A penalty conceded by Tom Peers was duly converted to Stefan Mols to give the home side a commanding three goal lead at the break. There was to be no comeback from Chester as Isaac Buckley-Ricketts added a fourth just after the hour mark to complete the rout.

CHESTER PAY THE PENALTY
A lackluster Chester suffered a 1-0 home defeat at the hands of Buxton at Deva Stadium last night. The only goal of the game came on 14 minutes as Ethan Fitzhugh shot home from long range.

Chester created little to trouble The Bucks in the opening half but carved out more chances following the break. The best opportunity fell to Kurt Willoughby on 75 minutes after referee Alexander Beckett awarded a penalty following a foul on Tom Peers. After a few minutes delay, as several Bucks players scuffed up the penalty spot, Willoughby saw his spot kick smash against the post.

CHESHIRE CUP PROGRESS
Chester progressed to the second round of the Cheshire Senior Cup following a win at Alsager Town. Luca Boon had given the young blues side the lead on 79 minutes only for the Bullets to equalise in the dying minutes through Kieran Hamm taking the game to penalties. The home side scored their first two, while Chester missed theirs! But then Cam Mason in the Blues goal saved the next three penalties and promptly scored the winning spot-kick himself to win the shootout 3-2.

Chester: Mason, Lawson, Jamieson, Briscoe, Duff, Muirhead, Beswick, Pilgrim, Davies, Boon, Rosenblatt. Subs: Skillen, Lawrence, Atkinson, Abbott.

Chester and league leaders Scunthorpe United fought out a goalless draw at Deva Stadium on Saturday in front of the biggest crowd of the season, 3,277. CHESTER EXIT FA CUP
It was a disappointing performance from Chester who were beaten 3-1 at Scarborough Athletic in the FA Cup on Saturday. The Blues were forced to rearrange their line-up with defenders Connell Rawlinson and Nathan Woodthorpe both serving suspensions. The Seadogs opened the scoring through Dom Tear on 35 minutes and just four minutes later they doubled their lead from the penalty spot through Richie Bennett after the striker had been fouled by Ben Pollock.

Chester started the second half brightly and went close through Kurt Willoughby and Jack Bainbridge, but Tear added a third on 65 minutes to extend the Boro lead. Substitute Iwan Murray pulled a goal back in stoppage time with a great free kick but it was all too little too late.

BLUES HELD AT HOME
Chester unveiled their new digital scoreboard at Deva Stadium on Saturday but failed to trouble it as they were held at home to a goalless draw by a dogged Farsley Celtic.

The scoreboard, a tremendous new addition to the stadium, has been funded by a large donation from Chester Exile Pauline Meakins as well as contributions from the Hipkiss Family and the Away Travel Team.

Very few chances were created by either side throughout the game, the nearest the Blues came to breaking the deadlock was nine minutes from time when Kurt Willoughby saw a free kick hit the crossbar. Chester were reduced to ten men in the final minutes as defender Nathan Woodthorpe received a second yellow card.

BLUES WIN THROUGH
Harrison Burke scored to give Chester a 1-0 victory last night in their FA Cup Third Round Qualifying Replay against Stockton Town to earn an away tie at Scarborough Athletic in the next round on 12 October. The only goal of the game came in the 71st minute with Burke scoring following a Declan Weeks corner.

The Blues were forced to play most of the match with ten men as Saturday’s hero Connell Rawlinson was shown a straight red card for denying a goal scoring chance in the third minute.

With the Blues through to the next round, the away league match scheduled for 12 October at Leamington will now be rearranged.
