HENEGHAN JOINS MOTHERWELL
Out of contract defender Ben Heneghan has joined Scottish Premiership side Motherwell on a two year deal, it looks as though Chester won’t receive any money for the 22-year-old England C interational.

The popular player signed for the Blues initially on a trial period having been released by Stoke City on August 2014, he went on to make 88+5 appearances for Chester scoring 10 goals in the process, the most memorable of which was the last minute winner against Wrexham.

On arriving at Motherwell the defender said: I’d like to start off by thanking everyone involved with Chester from the managers, players, staff and the people who work behind the scenes. I’ve mate some great people along the way and made some lifetime friends. I’d also like to thank the fans for their support and making me feel welcome from day one. I’ve been proud to represent the club.”

“The last two years have gone by so quickly and I want to thank Chester for giving me the opportunity of putting the shirt on and experiencing my first taste of professional football, for that I’ll be forever grateful. I wish everyone involved with the club all the very best in the future. I’ll always keep my eye on the results and be cheering you on from a distance.”

THOMPSON DEPARTS CHESTER

Goalkeeper Tony Thompson will not be signing for Chester next season. The player was signed by Steve Burr after he'd been released by Morecambe and made 12 appearances at the end of the season.

The departing shot-stopper said: “I spoke with Macca shortly after the season finished and I was told that I wouldn’t be offered a new deal. It’s very unfortunate and surprising news for me because I would have liked to have stayed at Chester, but that’s football for you and sometimes you don’t always get what you want.”

“I was really happy during my time at Chester and if the club ever did come back and offer me terms then I’d be happy to accept.”
