ENDING ON A HIGH
Manager Calum McIntyre
made wholesale changes to his starting X1 on Saturday
as the Blues completed their regular season with
a 3-0 at play-off chasing King’s Lynn Town.
There were debuts for Alex Brown in goal and Academy
defender Henry Briscoe and several other player
were recalled from loans to play.
Those supporters who made the trip to Norfolk saw
the Blues make a superb start with some of their
best football of the season as they raced into a
3-0 half-time lead with goals from Kurt Willoughby,
Jack Bainbridge and Dylan Mottley-Henry.
The Linnets created several chances in the second
period with Dylan Crowe, Ross Crane and Jonny Margetts
all seeing efforts go wide or saved by Brown who
will be delighted to keep a clean sheet on debut.
Results elsewhere on a dramatic last day saw Brackley
Town clinch the title as Kidderminster faltered
at Southport. Chester's reward for their fourth
placed finish is a home eliminator match against
Buxton on Wednesday night, kick-off 19.45hrs.

FOURTH PLACE SECURED
Chester guaranteed
a fourth place finish, and with it a home eliminator
play-off match, following Monday's 2-1 home win
over Marine in front of the second biggest home
crowd of the season. There was a warm welcome for
former manager Neil Young who was taking charge
of his last away game as Marine manager before taking
on their Director of Football role.
It took Chester just ten minutes to open the scoring
and once again it was Harrison Burke rising to meet
a Declan Weeks corner to head home, a combination
that has brought much success this season. The visitors
threatened several times from set pieces before
the Blues doubled their lead on 68 minutes through
a clever lob from midfielder Iwan Murray.
The Mariners pulled a goal back through Finlay Sinclair-Smith
and briefly threatened an equaliser but the Chester
defence held firm for the victory and a play-off
match against the team that finishes seventh next
week.

BLUES FIGHT BACK TO KEEP
PLAY-OFF HOPES ALIVE
Goals from Tom Peers,
from the penalty spot, and Connor Woods saw Chester
come from behind to secure three more vital points
towards their push for the end of season play-off’s.
Chester started the stronger of the two sides with
Peter Jameson in the Quakers goal pulling off a
fine save to deny Connor Woods early on. Against
the run of play the visitors, who harboured outside
chances of a play-off place themselves, took the
lead with a swift counter attack. Cedric Main fed
a through ball to Will McGowan who despite the close
attention of three Blues defenders found the net.
The Blues drew level five
minutes after the break with Peers sending Jameson
the wrong way from the penalty spot following
the award of the spot kick for handball. The comeback
was completed on 64 minutes as Woods converted
from close range after Tom Leak had deflected
a Declan Weeks corner goal wards.

LATE GOAL DENIES BLUES VICTORY
Chester were denied
a deserved victory at Hereford on Saturday when
a last minute error from goalkeeper Jimmy Storer
allowed the home side a late equaliser. Chester
had taken the lead just before half-time with top
scorer Tom Peers heading home from a pinpoint Nathan
Woodthorpe cross.
The home side, who had created little in the opening
period, drew level in the early stages of the second
half. Having being awarded a corner when the ball
appeared to hit a Hereford player last, Jaiden White
scoring from the edge of the box.
Chester struck back with an instance response as
Connor Woods scored his first goal for the club
four minutes later converting a Declan Weeks cross
from close range. The Blues pushed for a third goal
and both Peers and Kurt Willoughby saw efforts go
close.
With the game three minutes into added time the
home side scored an undeserved equaliser as goalkeeper
Jimmy Storer fumbled a cross into the box allowing
Jason Cowley to stab the ball home.
