FESTIVE CHEER FOR CHESTER
Goals from Declan Weeks and second half substitute Charlie Caton ensured that Chester ended the year on a high with a 2-0 win over county neighbours Warrington Town in front of a crowd of 2,897 on their first home Boxing Day fixture for six years.

Great approach play down the left wing from Kole Hall set up Weeks with the opening goal on 12 minutes and the game was wrapped up in the fifth minute of added time as Caton charged down a Sean Williams clearance and slotted the ball under the stranded ‘keeper Daniel Atherton who was caught out of position.

The two sides will meet again on New Year’s Day at Warrington, the match is already sold out with a 2,000 capacity on the day.

BLUES HELD AT BLYTH
Chester had to be content with a point following a 2-2 draw at Blyth Spartans on Saturday, the Blues remain in sixth place in the league. Declan Weeks gave City the perfect start opening the scoring on 16 minutes heading home the rebound after Kole Hall had seen a shot saved. However Spartans struck back with two goals in as many minutes through Will McGowan then Billy Gordon to lead at the break. Both sides had chances early in the second half but it was Chester who found the net with harrison Burke volleying home following a Weeks free-kick.

George Glendon almost grabbed the winner on 72 minutes as substitute Owen Windsor saw an effort cleared off the line to the Chester skipper who smashed the ball against the bar from six yards out.

STALEMATE
Chester and Boston United fought out a goalless draw on Saturday as the Blues struggled to break down a resolute Pilgrims rearguard. Twice in the opening half striker Owen Windsor had a chance to open the scoring but lost his footing on each occasion and the opportunities were spurned as City made it six games unbeaten. Chester welcomed back Kole Hall following a long lay-off through injury.
