STRIKER SIGNS
Chester have signed 28-year-old Jamaican-born forward
Darren Stephenson. The striker spent last season
at Curzon Ashton and was loaned out to FC Halifax
Town when the National League North was declared
null and void, scoring one goal in four appearances
for The Shaymen. Stephenson has played for several
clubs and tasted promotion success from the National
League North with Stockport County back in 2019.
Joint manager Anthony Johnson told the club website:
“We’re absolutely delighted to welcome
Darren to the club. He’s someone me and Bern
have been chasing for a number of years, so get
him done along with the other new lads means we’ve
got every player in we wanted to sign.”
“Darren is very quick and strong (Joel Taylor
can attest to that from last season), gets a ridiculous
number of assists but also has a keen eye for goal.
He actually scored more goals than Akwasi Asante
in the season Akwasi had his best ever season.”
