CHESTER SIGN OFF WITH
A DRAW
The Blues brought their
disappointing season to an end with a well-earned
0-0- draw at second placed Brackley Town on Saturday,
leaving them with a 16th placed finish in the league.
Steve Watson’s last team selection saw him
give a full debut to Academy graduate Ollie Heywood,
Danny Livesey made his 100th and final start for
the Blues as Rob Apter was recalled to join the
Blackpool squad.
It was a game with an end of season feel about it,
very few chances were created though Livesey did
clear off the line from Saints substitute Lee Ndlovu,
and Wyll Stanway made a series of impressive saves
late in the game to deny Matt Lowe twice, and Jimmy
Armson. Chester’s best efforts came from Harrison
Burke and Okera Simmonds.
There was late drama at the bottom end of the table
as Guiseley conceded two goals in the dying minutes
to lose 2-1 at Alfreton Town and finish in the sole
relegation place. The promotion play-off’s
start this week with the eliminator matches of York
City v Chorley and Kidderminster Harriers v Boston
United taking place. Brackley Town and AFC Fylde
await the winners in the semi-finals.

BLUES END HOME CAMPAIGN
IN STYLE Chester
completed their 2021/22 home fixtures with a comfortable
4-0 win over Bradford (Park Avenue) to move above
the Yorkshire side in the table. The Blues opened
the scoring through Rob Apter in the fifth minute
and remained 1-0 up at the break. Six minutes into
the second period Kevin Roberts doubled the lead
before further goals from Marcus Dackers and Declan
Weeks sealed the victory.
The game marked the end for defender Danny Livesey
who had announced his retirement a couple of days
before. He was rightly given a standing ovation
from the near 1,900 Deva Stadium crowd when he was
substituted a couple of minutes before full-time,
applauded off by both sets of players, and the referee.
Chester, and manager Steve Watson, have one game
left when they travel to second placed Brackley
Town on Saturday. Gateshead’s point from their
2-2 draw at Chorley on Monday hands them the National
League North title, while The Saints who are five
points behind will, with AFC Fylde, have home advantage
in the forthcoming play-off’s.
