BLUES BEATEN BY RELEGATION RIVALS
Chester were beaten
2-0 at home by Guiseley on Boxing Day. The Blues
looking to put some points on the board and move
towards safety, found themselves a goal down after
just six minutes with Callum McFadzean's 25-yarder
putting the Lions in front.
Just eight minutes later it was 2-0 as James Roberts
scored from a tight angle to put the game beyond
Chester. The home side were reduced to ten men on
35 minutes as Lathanial Rowe-Turner was given a
straight red card for a challenge on former Chester
loan player Roberts.

HUGE WIN FOR BLUES
It wasn’t a
great spectacle but Saturday’s 1-0 home victory
over bottom of the table Solihull Moors was a huge
boost for the Blues. A scrappy encounter between
two sides threatened with relegation was decided
by a Ross Hannah goal on 78 minutes, the striker
coming off the bench to head home from a corner
to seal the three points and claim his sixth goal
of the season. Chester remain in the bottom four
but gained vital ground on some other clubs around
them.
Great work by a band of volunteers ensured the game
went ahead after the pitch had been cleared of snow.
Manager Marcus Bignot gave debuts to three players,
Sam Hornby in goal, forward Daniel Udoh, and in
defence there was a first senior league start for
academy graduate James Jones. Reece Hall-Johnson
also made a comeback following injury.
Chester struggled in the opening 45 minutes with
little creativity in midfield, Andy Halls and Hall-Johnson
with the only real efforts of note. Tom Shaw replaced
Halls for the second half and Chester began to get
control in the middle of the pitch. Shaw and Dawson
both went close before Hannah grabbed the winning
goal after Ryan Astles had flicked on a Dawson corner
to him. The visitors were reduced to ten men late
in the game with Darren Carter seeing red following
a challenge on Lucas Dawson.

FA TROPHY
The home FA Trophy
match against AFC Fylde on Saturday 16 December
will be played to a conclusion on the day. Trophy
rules allow both clubs to agree to play 30 minutes
extra time followed by a penalty shoot out to decide
the tie rather than schedule in a replay, and both
Chester and Fylde had agreed to this.
