victory at Boston United on Saturday. Kurt Willoughby,
Anthony Dudley and Declan Weeks all found the net
to give the Blues a comfortable lead at the break.
However late replies from Johnson Gyamfi and Sam
McLintock ensured a nervy finish to the game as
Chester survived some late pressure to take the
three points.
Manager Calum McIntyre had made four changes to
the side that drew with Gloucester City in midweek
with recalled Ollie Heywood, Harrison Burke, Danny
Devine and Iwan Murray all starting at the expense
of Lewis Coulton, Matty Williams, Joe Lynch and
Kole Hall.
The victory lifts Chester to 14th in the league

Phillips on the stroke of half-time with a quick
counter attack. The Blues enjoyed plenty of possession
without creating much end product until Murray latched
on to some fine wing work from Kieran Coates to
find the net.

LATE HEARTBREAK FOR BLUES
Chester were just
one minute away from progressing to a first round
match at Wrexham last night but a goal from Mike
Fondop in the last minute of extra-time forced penalties
which saw the Latics prevail 4-3. In front of a
packed crowd Oldham, like on Saturday, took an early
lead with Ben Tollitt striking on 10 minutes. Chester
fought back superbly after the break with Kurt Willoughby
heading home from close range to draw the sides
level. Both sides had chances to win the tie in
90 minutes before extra-time was required.
Kevin Roberts gave the Blues the lead on 99 minutes
with a 25-yarder past Magnus Norman in the Latics
goal to send the Deva crowd wild. But with the game
entering the dying seconds Fondop struck to take
the game to penalties.
Roberts and Kole Hall missed for Chester, and although
Harry Tyrer made a great save to deny Fondop, Chris
Porter slotted home the winning kick for the visitors.

FA CUP DRAW
Number 56 Blyth Spartans
or Wrexham, will play number 49, Oldham Athletic
or Chester. You couldn't make it up but the possibility
of another FA Cup clash with our neighbours from
over the border was made possible following tonight's
televised cup draw. Both replays will take place
tomorrow night.
BURKE HEADER FORCES REPLAY
Nearly 2,000 Chester
supporters saw Harrison Burke plant a firm headed
into the Oldham net on 78 minutes to force a replay
from Saturday’s clash at Boundary Park. On
a surface made slippery by heavy rain it was the
home side who started the brighter and opened the
scoring on eight minutes through Mike Fondop. The
home side went on to miss a couple of decent chances
to extend their lead in the first period but the
Blues defence held out until the break.
Chester had much more of the play in the second
period, taking the game to their hosts for much
of the half. Manager Calum McIntyre brought on Darren
Stephenson and Joe Lynch midway through the second
period and Chester’s pressure paid off with
a deserved equaliser as Burke rose to meet Declan
Weeks right wing corner. Minutes later Burke was
injured at the other end making a last ditch tackle.
The replay will take place at Deva Stadium on Tuesday
night, kick-off 19.45hrs. The Blues can expect a
large crowd for this match.

11th player was unable to take his spot-kick due
to injury and had to forfeit his kick and up stepped
