CHESTER HELD BY MOORS
The Blues were disappointingly held at home 1-1 by Spennymoor Town on Saturday. Christian Norton deservedly opened the scoring on 28 minutes with his second goal in a Blues shirt. Chester couldn’t build on that slender lead, Tom Peers had the ball in the net but was ruled offside, and with their first attack in the last minute before the break Finley Shrimpton equalised following a corner. Neither side threatened after the break and both had to be contend with a point apiece.

WEEKS SEES RED AS BLUES DRAW WITH BULLS
Chester picked up a point at Hereford last night but saw Declan Weeks sent-off, with a second yellow card, at the final whistle by referee Liam Corbett who also booked seven other Chester players on the night. The Blues had got off to a fine start and led through an Elliott Whitehouse goal on 14 minutes heading home following a Ben Tollitt corner. Jason Cowley had the ball in the net for the home side just before half-time but was ruled narrowly offside.

Despite having seen a lot of the ball in the first half Chester couldn't build on that early lead. After the break the home side were much more involved in the game and drew level through Andy Williams from the penalty spot on 74 minutes following a foul by Whitehouse on Jason Cowley.

Two fine saves from Wyll Stanway ensured Chester came away from Edgar Street with a hard earned point though the number of cards will be a concern. Weeks will now be suspended for the away match at Scunthorpe United on 2 March.

BLUES UP TO THIRD
Chester put in one of their best home performances of the season on Saturday with a comfortable 3-0 victory over third placed Scarborough Athletic.

Out of the traps quickly, Chester took just nine minutes to open the scoring as Kevin Roberts saw a shot handled in the box following a corner, referee Darren Rogers pointed to the spot and Elliott Whitehouse duly converted the penalty kick.

New loan signing Ben Tollitt was introduced foe the hard working Iwan Murray on the hour mark and minutes later George Glendon doubled the lead following good work down the wing from Tom Peers. Tollitt saw a great effort just clear the crossbar before the visitors were reduced to ten men following a second yellow card for Will Thornton following a push on substitute Charlie Caton.

With the game game deep into added time Peers added a deserved third slotting the ball home from close range after being set-up by Tollitt and Glendon.

The victory moved Chester into third spot in a very tight division where just four points separate Chester from Boston United in 11th place! Next up is a trip on Saturday to Farsley Celtic, kick-off 15.00hrs.

BLUES HELD AT HOME
Despite playing some good football and dominating for long periods it was a frustrating afternoon for Chester who in the end had to be content with just a point against The Puritans as the sides fought out a -1 draw. Captain George Glendon had given the Blues a 15th minute lead with a clinical finish. Charlie Caton saw a header cleared off the line, with goalkeeper Jack Harding saving the follow up volley from Declan Weeks.

Against the run of play Banbury drew level from the penalty spot on 66 minutes with Emmanuel Maja sending Wyll Stanway the wrong way after the keeper was adjudged to have fouled Ethan FitzHugh.

Chester continued to press, Harrison Burke sent a header wide and Joel taylor hit the cross bar before Chester were gifted a last minute lifeline as Weeks was adjudged to have been fouled in the box, referee Charles Martland pointed to the spot. Up stepped Glendon only to see his spot kick was parried by Jack Harding before being scrambled clear.
