FORMER CHAIRMAN DIES
It’s sad to announce that former club chairman David Harrington-Wright has died following a long period of illness. He served as chairman from 2018-2020.

THE KING IS BACK!
Striker Kurt Willoughby has returned to Chester on a season-long loan from National League side Oldham Athletic. Willoughby scored 27 goals in 51+1 appearances during the 2022/23 season before departing for Oldham. The player was introduced to the crowd ahead of the pre-season friendly against a Manchester United X1 last night.

UNITED WIN ENTERTAINING ENCOUNTER
The Blues were beaten by a Manchester United U21 side 3-1 at Deva Stadium last night. The Red Devils took the lead early on through Gabe Biancher only for Tom Peers to find the net again with an equaliser ten minutes in. Both sides created chances but it was the visitors who found the net again just before half-time with Biancher notching his second.

The Blues presses for an equaliser after the break with both Matty Williams and Jordan Hunter both seeing efforts hit the woodwork. Five minutes from time a third goal from James Bailey wrapped up the victory for the visitors.

Chester: Mason, Hunter (Bott 87), Weeks (Roberts 60), Rawlinson (Heywood 70), Williams, Peers (Turner 46), Caton (Rosenblatt 70), Hancox (Bainbridge 46), Woodthorpe, Pollock (Daly 60), Murray.

BLUES BACK TO WINNING WAYS
Chester completed their mini tour of the Isle of Man with two resounding victories. Goals from Iwan Murray, Declan Weeks, Dan Turner, and two from Tom Peers brought a 5-2 win over the hosts on Friday night. This was followed up on Sunday morning with a 4-1 victory over Lancaster City with Weeks, Turner, Peers, and Oskar Rosenblatt on the scoresheet.

PETERBOROUGH FIXTURE SWITCH
The two fixtures this season against Peterborough Sports have been switch around on police instructions. This avoids a situation where both Chester and rivals Wrexham would be playing in Peterborough on the same day as per the original fixtures. The home match against The Turbines will now take place in August with the reverse fixture in February.

HOME LOSS TO STOKE
Chester were outplayed by a strong Stoke City side in their latest home pre-season friendly. The Potters won the match 3-0 having led by two goals at the break.

Chester: Mason, Hunter (Bott 67), Williams, Pollock (Burke 46), Heywood, Woodthorpe (Rawlinson 46), Bainbridge, Hancox (Murray 46), Rosenblatt (Weeks 46), Caton (Peers 46), Turner (Davies 89). Sub not used: Trialist (goalkeeper).

The Blues will now embark in a mini-break when they take part in the Isle of Man Summer Tournament next week along with Radcliffe, Lancaster City and the Isle of Man.

AWAY START FOR BLUES
The new league fixtures are out and Chester have been given an opening day trip to Spennymoor Town on Saturday 10 August, kick-off 15.00hrs. They follow that on the following Saturday with a first home game of the season against Brackley Town.

OPENING FRIENDLY DEFEAT
Chester were beaten 3-2 in their opening pre-season friendly at Deva Stadium yesterday. The Blues found themselves 0-3 down at half-time but reduced the arrears in the second period with goals from Charlie Caton and Matty Williams.

Chester: Mason, Bott, Burke, Roberts (Hunter 46), Trialist (Williams 46), Woodthorpe (Heywood 46), Murray (Davies 59), Weeks (Hancox 46), Bainbridge (Glendon 46), Peers (Turner 46), Rosenblatt (Caton 46).

FIRST DEAL FOR BOTT
Youth Team midfielder 18-year-old Adam Bott has signed his first senior contract with Chester.

DEFENDER RETURNS
Chester have re-signed Connell Rawlinson from Notts County. The 32-year-old defender last played for Chester City in the 2009/10 season (pictured here) where he made three appearances, scoring once in the Cheshire Senior Cup not long before the cub was wound-up.

He left City for The New Saints where he went on to make nearly 150 appearances in six seasons. He moved to Port Vale for 2019/19 before moving in August 2019 to Notts County.
