BLUES SIGN OFF WIN A WIN
Chester completed their pre-season fixtures on Saturday with a 2-0 victory at Marine thanks to goals from Elliott Whitehouse and a trialist. The Blues begin their new season campaign next Saturday with a trip to Bishop’s Stortford, kick-off 15.00hrs.

Chester: Stanway, Coates (Bott 88), Edwards (Daly 76), Heywood, Taylor (Earl 46), Burke, Weeks, Whitehouse, Murray, Hall (Trialist 46), Caton (Goodson 73).

LATE DEFEAT AT BALA
A goal two minutes from time saw Chester suffer a 1-0 defeat at Bala Town in thieir latest pre-season friendly. The match was a testimonial match for home player Kieran Smith.

PRE-SEASON CONTINUES
The Blues played two more friendlies over the weekend. On Friday night there was a comfortable 7-0 win for a Blues side made up of first teamers, academy players and five trialist’s away at Ashton Athletic. This was followed on Saturday with a 1-1 draw at Wythenshawe Town. Charlie Caton opens the scoring in the first half for Chester with Wythenshawe Town drawing level through a Louis Jeanne header from a corner on the hour mark.

HOME DEFEAT TO STOCKPORT
Chester were beaten 3-2 in their second home pre-season friendly by League Two side Stockport County.

The visitors opened the scoring after just two minutes through Connor Evans but just six minutes later Chester were level as Declan Weeks sent Charlie Caton through to equalise. County restored their lead three minutes before half-time with a sublime effort from former Chester favourite Antoni Sarcevic who superbly controlled Macauley Southam-Hales long ball flicked it up and lobbed it over the advancing Wyll Stanway.
Paddy Madden extended Stockport’s lead just after the hour mark before a foul on Iwan Murray saw the Blues awarded a penalty that Weeks duly converted.

BLUES OPEN WITH DRAW
Chester began their home pre-season with an entertaining 1-1 draw at home to Bolton Wanderers in front of a crowd of 1,419. After dominating much of the opening period, The Trotters opening the scoring through George Thomason on 35 minutes. On the stroke of half-time Joel Taylor, receiving a free-kick from Declan Weeks, curled home a great equaliser.

The Blues follow up with an all-ticket home friendly against Stockport County on Tuesday night, kick-off 19.45hrs.

MANCHESTER UNITED FRIENDLY
Chester have set up a home friendly against a Manchester United X1 at Deva Stadium on Monday 7 August, kick-off 19.45hrs. The match is all-ticket and these are now available from the official club website. Ticket prices are: Adults £12.00, Concessions £10.00, 18-21 Yrs £5.00, 12-17 Yrs £3.00, U12’s are admitted free with paying adult.

TRIALIST SIGNS
The Blues have signed left sided defender Nathan Woodthorpe on a one year deal, he will be loaned out to Marine until January 2024. He played, and impressed, under the guise of Trialist A at Saturday’s opening pre-season friendly at Hanley Town. The 21-year-old began his career at Crewe Alexandra and played last season at Lancaster City.

The two home pre-season friendlies against Bolton Wanders and Stockport County are all ticket. No tickets will be sold on the day of the matches.

Bolton Wanderers prices for Saturday 15 July, kick-off 15.00hrs.
Adults £10.00, Concessions £8.00, 18-21yrs £5.00, 12-17yrs £3.00, U12’s free with paying adult.

Stockport County prices for Tuesday 18 July, kick-off 19.45hrs.
Adults £12.00, Concessions £10.00, 18-21yrs £5.00, 12-17yrs £3.00, U12’s free with paying adult.
These prices are higher to allow for extra policing costs.

AWAY START FOR BLUES
Chester will kick-off the new season on Saturday 5 August with an away match at newly promoted Bishop’s Stortford. This is followed seven days later with the opening home match against King’s Lynn Town. The Christmas/New Year festive period brings a double header against county neighbours Warrington Town. The season is completed on Saturday 20 April at home to Darlington.

2023/24 Fixtures

CLUB CHARGED BY THE FA
The club have been charged by the Football Association following the crowd trouble at the end of the play-off semi-final against Brackley Town on 7 May. The club has accepted the FA charge, and are supporting Cheshire Police in their investigations into the matter.

ST HELENS TOWN FRIENDLY
Chester will send a side to play St Helens Town AFC in a pre-season friendly on Friday 7 July, kick-off 19.45hrs.

SEASON TICKETS
The club have announced that they have sold a staggering 1,845 season tickets ahead of next season, a record since the club reformed. Fixtures for the 2023/24 season are released at 13.00hrs on Wednesday.

BOOST THE BUDGET
The final total raised by this summer’s Boost The Budget campaign has been revealed as £116,458.

NEW DEAL FOR CALUM
The club have announced that manager Calum McIntyre has agreed a new contract extension that keeps him at Cheater until May 2026. McIntyre’s first season in charge saw the 26-year-old take Chester to the play-off semi-final, creating an impressive unbeaten away record on the way. His efforts saw him honoured with the National League North Manager of the Season award by sponsors Vanarama.

City Fans United Chair Kieron Shiel told the official club website: “Appointing Calum in the first place was a thorough yet easy decision – and extending his contract was an even easier one.”


“This will allow Calum and the football club to further build on the solid foundation and winning culture that he has created. I’m proud of what he, the team, the staff and the board have achieved so far and long may that continue.”
