CAPTAIN GEORGE TO THE RESCUE
A goal from captain
George Glendon late in the game ensured Chester’s
impressive winning run was maintained as the Blues
continue to climb the table. Backed by a huge away
following, the Blues were up against a Nash side
managed by former favourite Craig Mahon and they
proved difficult opponents on the day.
The only goal of the game came six minutes from
time, good work from substitute Iwan Murray played
in Adam Thomas and his cross was met at the far
post by Glendon who duly converted.

MOVING ON UP
Chester produced their
first away league win of the season with a comfortable
2-0 victory at Southport last night. The Blues dominated
from the start creating several chances of note,
including hitting the bar, before captain George
Glendon gave them the lead in just the eighth minute.
The Blues had a chance to double that soon afterwards
but saw Elliott Whitehouse miss from the penalty
spot with Renshaw saving following a foul on Adam
Thomas.
The nearest the hosts came to scoring was five minutes
into the second period when Luke Burgess headed
against the post, but five minutes later Whitehouse
secured the points with a second goal converting
Tom Sparrow’s cross.
The three points saw Chester move up to eighth in
the league, a point away from a play-off position.
On Saturday Chester make the short journey to play
Curzon Ashton, the Nash are currently managed by
former Blues favourite Craig Mahon and sit one point
below the Blues.

DUO STRIKE AGAIN
Charlie Caton and
Elliott Whitehouse were on the scoresheet again
as Chester recorded a fine 2-0 home win over Scunthorpe
United on Saturday in front of a crowd of 2,676.
An early morning pitch inspection ensured the game
went ahead despite the efforts of storm Babet. Chester
took the lead on 30 minutes through quick thinking
Caton who intercepted an under hit back pass, rounded
Iron ‘keeper Fitzsimons to score from a narrow
angle. Caton himself limped off on the stroke of
half-time with what looked like a hamstring injury,
new signing Tom Peers took his place from the bench.
The Blues doubled
their lead on 68 minutes as Whitehouse picked up
George Glendon's pass to smash the ball home against
his former club. There was drama in the closing
stages as referee William Davis picked up an injury
and couldn't carry on. After a nervous period of
confusion the senior linesman took over, and, following
an appeal from Cleggy, a qualified member from the
crowd came forward and ran the line for the remaining
minutes.
