YEAR ENDS WITH VICTORY
Goals from Dylan Mottley-Henry and Tom Leak, his first for the club, saw the Blues overcome their Cheshire neighbours Macclesfield 2-0 at Deva Stadium last night. Mottley-Henry opened the scoring on 34 minutes sliding the ball home from close range from a Fin Shrimpton cross from the left edge of the box. George Murray-Jones produced a fine save to deny Isaac Buckley-Ricketts an equaliser on the stroke of half-time.

The Silkmen made changes at the break and saw plenty of possession in the second half, and it was slightly against the run of play when Chester doubled their lead five minutes from time with Leak firing home a loose ball following a Declan Weeks corner.

BOXING DAY BLUES
A poor first half performance from Chester paved the way for their 3-1 defeat against AFC Telford United at the New Bucks Head on Boxing Day. Jamie Meddows gave the home side the bead after just eight minutes with Matty Stenson doubling the lead just after the half hour.

Manager Calum McIntyre made no fewer that four changes at half-time in an effort to inject some urgency following the lackluster effort of the opening half.

The changes appeared to have the desired effect with Fin Roberts forcing a fine save from Josh Gracey before Kevin Roberts pulled a goal back following a corner routine.

All that good work was undone just four minutes later as a terrible mix up in defence between George Murray-Evans and Tom Leak gifted Stenson his second, and Telford’s third, goal to seal the points.

BACK TO BACK AWAY WINS
Chester’s upturn in form continued at the weekend with the Blues winning 2-0 away at Kings Lynn Town. First half goals from Jack Bainbridge and Kevin Roberts paved the way for the three points. The Blues created several chances with Dylan Mottley-Henry and Connor Woods both going close, while at the other end George Murray-Jones pulled off a fingertip save to push a pile driver from Morgan Williams wide.

Woods
almost added a third goal twelve minutes into the second period, his goal bound shot deflected wide for a corner. The nearest the hosts came to pulling a goal back was through another ling range effort from Ross Crane that brought out another fine save from Murray-Jones.

With the Blues making an early exit from the FA Trophy they are without a fixture next Saturday and will be in action next on the 20th December when they host high-flying South Shields at Deva Stadium, kick-off 15.00rs.

THREE POINTS AT RADCLIFFE

Chester put Saturday’s disappointment of the abandoned game at Spennymoor behind them last night as they won 3-1 at Radcliffe. Kicking up the slope, it took Pat Jones just six minutes to open the scoring with a crisp volley at the far post following a poor defensive clearance. Seven minutes later Tom Peers doubled the lead converting a through pass from Dylan Mottley-Henry.

Radcliffe responded well and reduced the arrears with the goal of the night through Michael Afuye who curled a delightful 25-yarder past George Murray-Jones giving the Blues ‘keeper no chance.

It was an entertaining game, played in heavy rain, as Radcliffe pressed Chester back after the break looking for the equaliser. Chester's defence held firm though and the Blues added a third on 51 minutes with a deflected Connor Woods shot. Minutes later Afuye almost added a second for Boro as his inswinging corner crashed away off the post.
